Sykes Enterprises, Incorporated Announces Technical Support Call Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska

TAMPA, March 19, 1999 – Sykes Enterprises, Incorporated (“Sykes”) (Nasdaq:SYKE), a world leader in providing integrated business services to the information technology industry, today announced that it will build its 15th U.S. technical support call center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. The announcement of this state-of-the-art facility follows the recent opening of call centers in Ada, Oklahoma and Milton-Freewater, Oregon, and the announcement of a center in Ed, Sweden.

The new 42,500 square foot, state-of-the art call center in Scottsbluff is being constructed consistent with the Company’s continued projected growth and is expected to be fully operational in the third quarter of 1999. It will add capacity of 432 seats on a single shift basis to the information technology company’s approximate 9,000 seats worldwide and increases the amount of new call center seats announced to approximately 2,600 over the last six months. Technicians in Scottsbluff are expected to handle Sykes’ customers’ technical support calls for computer hardware and software applications.

“Due to the significant continued increase in client demand for technical support, we have chosen Scottsbluff to locate our newest state-of-the-art technical call support center,” commented John H. Sykes, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sykes. “Scottsbluff, NE, and its proximity to Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington and Chadron State College in Chadron, is an ideal site location for us due to its demographic profile and population. Scottsbluff, as with other communities where our domestic call centers are located, allowed us to receive incentives consistent with those received in other American communities. ”

“As is our tradition, we do not speculatively build call centers without adequate business backlog to immediately utilize them,” explains Sykes. “Even though we just completed and opened two domestic centers, our capacity to receive additional awarded outsourced technical work has once again approached the point where it warrants another call center as quickly as possible.”

The newest Sykes call center will be built on 16 acres of land in the northeast part of the city, adjacent to the Western Nebraska Community College.

The Honorable Mike Johanns, Governor of Nebraska, said, “The Sykes call center will be a boost to both the Scottsbluff-Gering and Nebraska economies. From the twin cities to Omaha, there are thousands of telecommunications jobs, demonstrating that Nebraska is one of the most sophisticated information technology environments in the country.”

“Economic development is a competitive and time consuming community effort requiring patience and determination,” explains Barbara Eisenach, Twin Cities Development Board President. “We are thrilled that Sykes has chosen Nebraska to continue its domestic expansion with this state-of-the-art technical support call center. We have witnessed the impact Sykes has made in the nearby Colorado communities and we’re very excited. We look forward to Sykes being one of Nebraska’s outstanding corporate citizens.”
