Akamai to Expand Operations in Costa Rica Thanks to Quality of Exported Services

• The IT services company began operations in 2012 with 6 workers and, in March of this year, hired its 100th employee.
• Company plans to hire 60 more people over the next 24 months. Profiles sought in areas related to web management, customer service, computer science and cyber security.

San Jose, March 31, 2015. The services sector company, Akamai, plans to expand its operations in Costa Rica in the coming months due to the Costa Rican human talent and the quality of exported services. The company dedicated to improving the speed and safety with which people access Internet services, plans to increase its payroll by 60 new positions by 2016 and will expand its current offices to accommodate new staff.

Because of this growth in the country, Akamai CEO, Tom Leighton, decided to visit Costa Rica and get to know the employees who made it possible.

“The operation of Costa Rica has grown more quickly than what we initially projected. The Costa Rican talent, creativity and preparation have made the country’s offices one of the regional centers of excellence. Today we have more than 100 employees and hope to even double this number over a period of about three years” Leighton said.

This company manages approximately 30% of the internet traffic through its platform which consists of more than 150,000 smart servers strategically distributed worldwide.
