Akamai to Expand Operations in Costa Rica Thanks to Quality of Exported Services

  • The IT services company began operations in 2012 with 6 workers and, in March of this year, hired its 100th employee.

San Jose, March 31, 2015. The services sector company, Akamai, plans to expand its operations in Costa Rica in the coming months due to the Costa Rican human talent and the quality of exported services. The company dedicated to improving the speed and safety with which people access Internet services, plans to increase its payroll by 60 new positions by 2016 and will expand its current offices to accommodate new staff.

Because of this growth in the country, Akamai CEO, Tom Leighton, decided to visit Costa Rica and get to know the employees who made it possible.

“The operation of Costa Rica has grown more quickly than what we initially projected. The Costa Rican talent, creativity and preparation have made the country’s offices one of the regional centers of excellence. Today we have more than 100 employees and hope to even double this number over a period of about three years” Leighton said.

If you have ever used online services, downloaded software updates to your phone, streamed video services or simply made ​​a purchase online, you have probably used the services of Akamai Technologies.

This company manages approximately 30% of the internet traffic through its platform which consists of more than 150,000 smart servers strategically distributed worldwide. Since November 2012, Akamai Technologies opened in Costa Rica to provide services and technical support to its customers in the Americas making emphasis on Latin America.
