Sykes Enterprises, Incorporated Announces Second Technical Support Call Center in Oklahoma
TAMPA, September 17, 1998 – Sykes Enterprises, Incorporated (“Sykes”) (Nasdaq:SYKE), a world leader in providing integrated business services to the information technology industry, today announced that it will build yet another U.S. technical support call center, locating this center in Ada, OK. The state-of-the-art facility represents Sykes’ second such center in OK having operated a facility in Ponca City since 1996. The company’s continued growth marks the third such announcement of a domestic call center in 1998. Based upon past experiences, three domestic call centers when operating at capacity would generate approximately $50 million in annualized revenues for the company. The company has experienced various time periods over which its new facilities have reached capacity.
John Sykes, President and Chief Executive Officer stated, “We are enthused by the amount of activity and organic growth we continue to enjoy from both existing clients and relatively new customers for the demand for our support services. Ada provided us the ability to respond quickly to such demand. Governor Keating and his professional staff are to be commended for their efforts in helping our company grow and become a larger employer in OK. He was instrumental in bringing us back to OK for an additional call center and specifically to Ada. The Governor, Mayor Bearden and other elected officials and economic development individuals put a lot of hard work into this, and it is a testament to their actions and “can do” spirit that we will call Ada home in 1999.”
“Ada now represents our 14th location in the U.S.,” Sykes stated. “When construction on our latest two facilities is completed and added to our eleven international facilities, we will have approximately 7,700 call center seats worldwide. In addition, to accommodate service requirements during the construction periods, temporary facilities totaling approximately 500 seats are in the process of being obtained.”
The Honorable Frank Keating, Governor of Oklahoma, commented, “I am thrilled that Sykes has chosen another Oklahoma community to continue its domestic expansion with this state-of-the-art technical support call center. Sykes has become one of Oklahoma’s outstanding corporate citizens and I am honored to welcome the company to Ada. I appreciate Sykes’ confidence in Oklahoma.”
Sid Bearden, Mayor of Ada, stated, “We have a great appreciation for all the efforts made on our behalf by Governor Keating, Congressman Wes Watkins and David Hathcoat, our City Manager, in particular. We’re humbled and pleased to have a company like Sykes as a part of our community and will continue to do what it takes to assure a ‘win-win’ relationship. Most of all, we’re grateful to have Sykes for a neighbor here in Ada.”
